Daisy (
Bellis perennis) is an excellent wild edible that you should be aware of. Although it is native to Europe, it has however, colonized much of North America. Learn to recognize this plant as it is an edible that you may one-day rely on for food.
You can recognize daisies by the small white and yellow flowers that it produces. The petals are white and the center of the flower will be yellow. Daisies have a small stem holding up the flower. The plant is short, not growing more than a foot tall. It flowers in the spring and then sporadically during the summer.
The flowers, leaves and the stem are all edible raw. Nothing needs to be done other than to pick it and eat it. This makes it valuable when you are doing work that needs to be done and don't have the time to stop work to start a fire and cook a meal. It's a short and simple article for a simple quick edible.
