What is a candle wick? A candle wick is a piece of string or other material in a candle or a lamp that is lit for burning.
Wicks From String
Candle wicks can be made from string or rope. You can find out how to make
string here.
The braided wick works better than a straight twisted string. So braid you wick material tightly.
Wicks From Cedar Bark
A wick can be made from Cedar bark. Strip some bark from a cedar tree and rub between your hands repeatedly. This separates the fibers eventually, but doesn't break them too badly. It should start to resemble string. Fluff it a bit and you have a candle wick.
Wicks From Other Material
Wicks can be made from a lot of materials with varying degrees of success. Mushrooms, moss, reeds, lichens can all be used to make wicks. You might be relegated to short candles if you are unable to make long wicks, but that isn't a big issue.
