Uranium when refined is a silvery white, weakly radioactive metal. It has a Mohs hardness of 6, which is sufficient to scratch glass.
The major use of Uranium in the military is ammunition projectiles. Depleted Uranium is also used as a shielding material to store and transport radioactive materials and as fuel rods in nuclear reactors.
Uranium has a melting temperature of 1132C (2070F).
