Manganese Bronze Information

Manganese Bronze is an alloy of copper and zinc with some manganese. Manganese Bronze is very strong and wear resistant with high tensile strength with a hardness and ductility comparable to steel. Manganese Bronze is also corrosion resistant.

Maganese Bronze is 55-66 percent Copper, 22-42% Zinc, .1 to 5% Manganese. In lower ranges of Zinc there is always the addition of Aluminum and Iron ~6% and 3% respectively.

Uses include switches for electrical components, fasteners, nuts, bushings, hooks, frames, struts, gears, bridge pins, propellers, hydraulic cylinder parts, marine hardware and boat parts such as rudders.

Manganese Bronze has a melting temperature of 865-890C (1590-1630F).
