Chromium is a steely-grey, lustrous, hard and brittle metal which takes a high polish, resists corrosion and tarnishing, and has a high melting point. Stainless steel is made by the addition of Chromium to steel. The production of stainless steel and chrome plating constitute most of the use of Chromium.
